Abstract
This article discusses the stylistic peculiarities of English and Uzbek synonyms. Intercultural communication requires not only to use language units correctly in speech in terms of language norms, but also to use them in accordance with the culture of the speakers in different speech situations. This situation requires the linguocultural competence of foreign language teachers. Stylistic synonyms and their corresponding to the communicative situation use is an integral part of a teacher's cultural competence.
