Abstract
Recently, there has been a growing interest in the use of authentic materials in teaching listening. In order for students to master the target language, teachers need to present a real-life listening situation in that language. Although authentic materials have a positive impact on students and teachers, they can create difficulties for listeners in perceiving and understanding the text. Thus, some steps must be taken to develop appropriate and effective listening skills.
