INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE VARIETIES OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article considers the basic issues of a comparatively new linguistic subject - contact variantology of the English language, related to the language varieties of intercultural communication, which is nowadays the English language and the tem of World Englishes. The problems of categorization of variants, norms, and comprehension between the speakers of different varieties, are considered. The author favours the idea of "intercultural literacy", which allows to monitor and implement intercultural communication in different variants of English.
