Abstract
This article is devoted to the study of the level of formation of information and
cognitive competence of a student's multilingual personality. The article deals with the
ascertaining stage of the study, aimed at determining the level of formation of information
and cognitive competence of students studying English in higher educational institutions.
A table of criteria (components) for the formation of this competence is given, the data
obtained for each of the presented components is analyzed.
