Abstract

The effect of vitamin D on dopamine metabolism is one of the most studied neurosteroidal effects of vitamin D. These effects are associated with the effect of the active form of the vitamin, calcitriol, on the expression of the gene of the main enzyme of dopamine biosynthesis, tyrosine hydroxylase.
