According to WHO forecasts, in 2050 in 65 countries of the world the share
of the lderly population will be more than 30%. The demographic indicators of the Republic
of Uzbekistan over the past decades indicate a progressive increase in the number of
centenarians. In the Ferghana Valley, the population aged 90 years and older is 4,118 in
2021, in the Jizzakh region, the population aged 90 years and older is 464 in 2021, and
1,748 long-livers live in the Kashkadarya region in 2021. Centenarians living in different
climatic and geographical zones are characterized by the presence of several chronic general
somatic diseases, which increases the risk of morbidity of the organ of vision. The authors
studied the features of the course of general somatic pathology and risk factors for diseases
of the organ of vision in centenarians living in various climatic and geographical zones of
Uzbekistan.
